#ManCrushMonday #1

Here are some sketches and a final drawing/sketch painting of my boyfirend, Jon.
We've ordered lots of pizza this summer from a local place here in Columbus called The Pizza Joint, formely known as Gumby's.
He is the pizza to my pokeysticks.

Hardcow Cow Turnarounds

I have been working on some character turnarounds for my Hardcore-Hardcow character.
Next up: a pig, a chicken, and a grab-bag of barn-yard citizens.

Coffee Enjoyment Character Rig

Here's a character rig I made for Animation III class. The assignment was to take any clip and do a little bit of lip-sync as well as movement to compliment it - using a character rig with Toon Boom's network system. I chose an Office Space Quote and a big slurp noise. This piece was featured in CCAD's 134th Annual End-of-the-Year Student Show.

Here's an older character rig I made in Animation II class: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQClBzGx7d4

Winter Break Pt2: Character Study-Palooza

This break I made it a point to try and take a few days where I would just sit down and draw the same character as many times as I could. I decided to focus on characters I thought I already had put together fairly well from my childhood/early years as an artist - it was such a neat process to tap back into them again and push them further than I ever thought I would. The most interesting and rewarding thing was the fact that sketching them in this fashion really helped me see as more of a feasible, concrete characters that I can imagine with much more clarity. I came to new conclusions: the kitten with the laser cannon on his tail - his tail could be long enough for him to hold so he could aim his laser cannon. The cute creepy thing with the mask - why is he wearing a mask? Maybe he is actually a hideous freak with lots of lots of teeth?

I also started drawing the Hardcow again, at the end of break - and this has continued into this first week of school. More big sketch posts of lots of cows/barnyard friends (for Animation III) and Space Puppies (for Layout and Timing) are on their way!

Meet Petey (2D Puppet/Rig)

Today has been a love and hate battle with this beast! I worked on this for about 5.5 hours, and had an unfortunate time losing all the progress I had made! Though I was furious, it might have been for the best: when I returned to this a few hours later, I was able to apply everything I had learned about Toon Boom's network system, keyframes, and puppeting capabilities. This project is a quick intro to the idea of a puppet/rig, and all we have to do is create a simple rig and execute a simple action. I chose to have Petey SQUAWK! And I hope to make a sound effect myself, if need be. Shh.

Animation II Character Rig Idea

Our next project in Animation II is a quick project involving a character rig and a simple animated action. I did a few sketches of a silly little creature, named him Petey, and decided I will be making him SQUAWK! This will be my first character rig, so I am really interested in seeing how it turns out.

Rough Weight Exercise Pass 3+

Third and final (for now!) rough pass for class. I'd like to finish this up for the end of the year and my demo reel. I added tails and made the feet less slide-y in some real problem areas.
Also, here's some notes from class:
