Here's some more sketches from the past week-ish. I have more sketches from the week that I did in my Character Design sketchbook over in my Character Design blog (including one from a grilled cheese night and one from my favorite things to do every week, fine art critique night).
Character Design is keeping me busy, I've been working on a new animatic for my thesis, and portfolio class has me questioning my choice of Blogger over Wordpress.
I had a Wordpress as a sophomore, for my first blog - I jumped over, thinking it was the way to go. But now I am told to go back! What do you think is a better blog interface?
Feel free to leave a comment! One of my goals for this year is to explore the bloggosphere in search for conversation! If not, I am not too embarassed to not get responses. I will continue to post my doodles and be generally content with life.

Have a great week!
Blogger is dying, but that doesn't make WordPress better... it makes tumblr better.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I have been feeling! I am thinking the energy I put into blogger should just be into Tumblr. It has seemed to evolve in a positive for artists. I definitely see more of them there, then a good number on Blogger, and not too many on Wordpress (that I know of).
DeleteI just have a weird "people won't reblog this if it has me writing so many words all over it" feeling in my gut.
(posting again haha)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I never got into Wordpress. Blogger seems more user-friendly to me, plus it's a great way to reach out to other great animators/character designers who use it.
I feel similar. Apparently, Wordpress has gone through some re-hauls in the past few years. Once I start my blog for portfolio class on there, I might get some new opinions on it - but I definitely feel like I tend to see more of a network in our area here vs there.
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled on your blog entry, and I am not an artist and have developed websites on Wordpress for a while now. I am not sure if it is important, but one of the advantages of Wordpress is that it is really easy to use, upgrade and extend, even if you are not that familiar with web development. Also, if you are going to buy your own domain and host the site yourself, this is possible and 'relatively' easy to do. I am not aware of the ability of Blogger or Tumblr to do that. However, these is more of a business concern perhaps, and if you are an artist just wanting to write to a community of other artists, then I would say that going where the community is the strongest is possibly the way to go.
Maybe also investigate import and export options as often it can be reasonably straight forward to export a blog from one format and import it into another blog format with minimum effort.
Anyhow, that is my take as a web nerd, and I am not sure if it helps in any way! :)
